Roulette Tips
Based on our own experience and usage of many roulete strategies we are pleased to offer the following roulette tips.
1. Play Single Zero Roulette Wheels (European Roulette)
American Roulette
The American Roulette Wheel has 38 numbers including 0, 00 and numbers 1 to 36.
As the house normally only pays 35 times the stake (plus the stake) on a straight bet, this means it always has a two number advantage over players. In other words if a player or players covered all of the numbers on the board it would cost them say $38 (i.e. $1 per number), however the house’s maximum payout will only be $36, hence they always have 2 number advantage on the players. 2/38 = 5.26% advantage. Having two zeros (0, 00) gives the house a 5.26% advantage. This means that for every $100 bet, the house will make $5.26 in profit.
European Roulette Wheel
The European Roulette Wheel, also referred to as the ‘French Wheel’ has 37 numbers including 0 and 1 to 36. As the house normally only 35 times the stake (plus the stake) on a straight bet, this means it always has a one number advantage over players. In other words if a player or players covered all of the numbers on the board it would cost them say $37 (i.e. $1 per number), however the house’s maximum payout will only be $36, hence they always have 1 number advantage on the players. 1/37 = 2.70% advantage. Having one zero (0) on the wheel gives the house a 2.70% advantage. This means that for every $100 bet, the house will make $2.70 in profit.
Naturally European Roulette offers you better odds of winning.
2. Play Casinos with the “En Prison” and “La Partage” Rules
If you can find a casino that plays a Single Zero wheel and their rules allow either the “En Prison” or “La Partage” rules, then
you are in great shape odds wise !! To explain :
‘La Partage’ Rule - Essentially, the ‘la partage’ rule lowers the house edge on a single zero wheel of 2.7% to a very attractive 1.35%.
The rule operates as follows, if the ball lands on zero, the player only loses HALF of their money on outside bets. You still
have the same chances of winning your bet, but the amount of money you could lose is LESS. How good is that !!
The ‘En Prison’ Rule - Another favorite of ours. The rule eliminates the threat of losing your bet if the ball lands on a zero. This rule also lowers the house edge on a single zero wheel to 1.35%. It applies as follows, if the ball lands on zero, nothing happens to your bet … it stays ‘in prison’ until the next spin.
The bet is then treated exactly the same as the same as if it had just been placed on the table. You basically get a Second Chance if the ball lands on Zero !
3. Set a LIMIT and Stick to IT !
Treat your roulette playing as you would any entertainment event. Just because there are attractive cash prizes available if you hit a run of luck, does not mean you can consistently beat the odds of a random roulette wheel.
Here is how to enjoy your game of roulette :
- Treat your roulette play as an entertainment expense
- Before you sit down know how much precisely you want to spend at the roulette table, set that as your limit and stick to it !
- Find the casino with the most advantageous european roulette wheel and the “En Prison” and “La Partage” Rules.
- Over time the house always wins in the end if you have a nice win, enjoy it, put at least half of it straight in your wallet and don’t dip into it !
4. Responsible Gambling
Please don’t gloss over this section… it is important before you play roulette to set a basis for your roulette gambling. This is gambling and should be treated as such, it is for entertainment purposes and we strongly endorses and urges you to follow the following responsible gambling code:
- Only every use discretionary income for gambling, that is income you can afford to lose !
- Gamble for entertainment, not as a way to make money
- The house always has the advantage. You are really just paying to play the game
- Make sure you know how the game works and what the odds are before you decide to play
- Never ever use money for everyday expenses
- Set a budget and stick to it
- Do not use cash machines to get more money for gambling.
- Leave your debit and credit card at home when you decide to gamble
- Set a time limit and stick to it
